The specimen shown is a type struck in Chile 1971 only. It was reduced in weight from the prior KM 191, which featured the condor, and is worthless in all grades. Bernardo O'Higgins appears on the obverse. The escudo superseded the peso in 1960, with one escudo = 1000 pesos.
Recorded mintage: 99,700,000.
Specification: 2.5 g, aluminum-bronze, 18.1 mm diameter.
