Stephen Album sale 50, lot 1444

This specimen was lot 1444 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $390. The catalog description[1] noted, "AFGHANISTAN: Abdur Rahman, 1880-1901, AV tilla, NM (struck at Kabul), AH1316, toughra within wreath, with his title diya' al-milla wa'l-din // mosque above crossed swords, date below, AU, R, ex Hakim Hamidi Collection." Milled coinage was introduced to Afghanistan during the reign of Abdur Rahman (1880-1901). This type was struck AH 1316 only. It is not believed to exist in uncirculated condition.
