Stack's Bowers 2015 NYINC sale, lot 4133

This specimen was lot 4133 in Stack's-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $223.25. The catalog description^[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Gelderland. Gulden, 1764. PCGS MS-63 Secure Holder. Finest certified. Attractive iridescent toning. Slightly weak strike." This type is recorded for 1760-65 and 1786-95 and was minted in some numbers but is not often seen today. Similar coins are known for Holland, Overijssel, Utrecht and Westfriesland.

Recorded mintage: 3,846,265 for 1763-64.

Specification: 10.61 g, .920 fine silver.
