from Heritage sale 3049, lot 31546
Zurich H3049-31546r.jpg

This specimen was lot 31546 in Heritage sale 3049 (Long Beach, September 2016), where it sold for $2,350. The catalog description[1] noted, "Zurich. City 1/2 Taler 1776 MS66 NGC, HMZ-21165 (the edge is not visible in the holder, so the full HMZ# is not determinable). Absolutely original with a deep sheath of olive tone over both sides that produces flares of attractive multicolored hue when rotated beneath a light. No marks are visible to the unaided eye and obvious luster beneath the tone helps to confirm the exceptional surface quality. Not surprisingly, a coin that remains unsurpassed in grade at both NGC and PCGS. From the Redwood Collection, Part II." This is a one year type but listed slightly cheaper than the regular issue of 1720-68 (KM 145).

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: KM 162, HMZ-21165.
