This commemorative, issued in the waning days of Marcos' rule, celebrates his friendship with American president Ronald Reagan. Not until 1986 was Reagan disabused of Marcos' oft-proclaimed love of democracy; with the withdrawal of his support, the Marcos regime was swiftly swept into the dustbin of history. This is one of the less common issues of the eighties and proofs are decidedly scarce.
Recorded mintage: 8,000 plus 250 proofs.
Specification: 25 g, 0.500 fine silver, .401 troy oz ASW.
Catalog reference: KM 235.
