Philippines 1986 2500 piso

This is one of the less common issues of the eighties. It commemorates the "official working visit" of President Corazon Aquino to Washington to meet with Ronald Reagan. Reagan, still unsure of his relationship with the woman who deposed his old buddy Marcos, would not allow the trip to be called a "state visit," but Aquino desperately needed the legitimacy conferred by American recognition. Aquino survived several coup attempts and finished her term of office.
