Heritage sale 3010. part of lot 23011
Mexico 1907 10 centavos rev Heritage 3010-23011.jpg

This specimen was part of lot 23011 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), which sold for $546.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Modern Grouping of 18 High Grade Decimals, 1 Centavo to 1 Peso examples. Many AU and UNC. A lot to be carefully examined." This specimen is a common date of a series struck 1905-14 at the Mexico City mint. This ten centavos piece replaced the ten centavos piece struck 1898-1905 under the Republic. The older coin was 2.7 g, 0.903 fine. It, in turn, was replaced by a smaller ten centavos piece in 1919. The last branch mints, Zacatecas and Culiacan, were closed in 1905 and all official Mexican coinage since has borne the Mexico City mintmark ("M" or "Mo"). A scarce 1907/6 overdate exists.

Recorded mintage: 5,950,000, a common date.

Specification: 2.5 g, 0.800 fine silver, .064 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: KM 428.
