This specimen was lot 4540 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabruck, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €1,400 (about US$1,832 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"WÜRTTEMBERG, WÜRTTEMBERG, HERZOGTUM, SEIT 1806 KÖNIGREICH. Wilhelm I. 1816-1864. Gulden 1844. Besuch der Münzstätte Stuttgart. RR Hübsche Patina, vorzüglich. (Germany, kingdom of Wurttemberg, William I, 1816-64, gulden of 1844, mint visit. Rare, handsome patina, extremely fine.)"
This type was struck in 1844 on the occasion of the king's visit to the new mint. A regular gulden (KM 574) was also struck in 1844 and is common.
Recorded mintage: unknown but rare.
Specification: 10.60 g, 0.900 fine silver, this specimen 10.61 g.
