from the Mountain Groan Collection

Shown is a copper-nickel 200 réis of the United States of Brazil, struck 1901 only. It is accompanied by similar 100 (KM 503) and 400 réis (KM 505). It is much scarcer in nice condition than the SCWC indicates, despite the large mintage. The 200 réis gradually shrank until its abolition in 1942 with the reform of the coinage in that year.

Recorded mintage: 12,625,000.

Specification: copper-nickel.

Catalog reference: KM 504.
