Egypt reconstituted itself as the Arab Republic of Egypt in 1971 (1391 AH), abandoning the title 'United Arab Republic'. Coins were reissued from this year with the modified title.
This coin, showing the god Osiris with an ear of wheat, was issued by Egypt as part of the F.A.O. series. Egypt issued an entire series of F.A.O. coins, ranging from five milliemes to one pound. The ten milliemes was not issued after 1980, inflation having destroyed its value.
Recorded mintage: 10,000,000.
Specification: brass, 21 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM 449.
