This specimen was lot 1924 in Jean Elsen sale 149 (Brussels, December 2021), where it sold for €190 (about US$257 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"NEDERLAND, OVERIJSSEL, Provincie, AR leeuwendaalder, 1688. Vz/ Ridder rechtsom kijkend met voor zich wapen met klimmende leeuw. Kz/ Klimmende leeuw l. Einde muntplat. goede Zeer Fraai. (Netherlands, province of Overijssel, silver lion daalder of 1688. Obverse: standing knight supports the provincial arms with a lion rampant; reverse: lion rampant left. Irregular planchet, good Very Fine.)"
Lion daalders were struck in most of the provinces that today make up the Netherlands. They had a face value of forty stuivers. This type is recorded in the SCWC for Overijssel for 1675-92, 1697-1700. Various mintmarks exist.
