This specimen was lot 22931 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it sold for $493.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 15 Kopek, 1781-CNB. Catherine II (the Great) (1762-96). PCGS AU-55 Secure Holder. Lovely deep gray tone." This is a common date of a style issued 1778-82, with the 1782 being rare. This denomination was struck in several styles during the reign of Catherine the Great, after which the denomination was dropped until the 1860's.
