This specimen was lot 3582 in Künker sale 294 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €6,000 (about US$8,761 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG-LÜNEBURG, Christian, Bischof von Minden, 1611-1633. Dukat 1629, Andreasberg. Ausbeute der Grube St. Andreas. Gekröntes, siebenfeldiges Wappen mit Mittelschild//St. Andreas steht v. v. das Kreuz vor sich haltend, zu den Seiten die geteilte Jahreszahl. GOLD. Von großer Seltenheit. Attraktives, sehr schönes Exemplar. Exemplar der Preussag Collection, Part I. Auktion London Coin Galleries/Künker 1, London 2015, Nr. 271. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Celle, Christian, bishop of Minden, 1611-33, ducat of 1629, Andreasberg, for the St. Andrew mine. Obverse: crowned, seven-fold arms with escutcheon; reverse: St. Andrew stands with cross dividing date. Very rare, attractive very fine example.)"
This type is listed in Friedberg for 1624 and 1629 as a goldgulden. Altho the specification shown here is that of a ducat, the goldgulden was usually slightly lighter and lower in fineness.
Recorded mintage: unknown but few.
Specification: 3.5 g, .986 fine gold, .110 troy oz AGW; this specimen is 3,17 g.
