Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel 1630-HS ducat Fr-632
This specimen was lot 3568 in Künker sale 294 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €2,600 (about US$3,504 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG UND LÜNEBURG, BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM, Friedrich Ulrich, 1613-1634. Dukat 1630, Zellerfeld. GOLD. Von großer Seltenheit. Sehr schön. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, Frederick Ulrich, ducat of 1630, Zellerfeld mint. Very rare, very fine.)"
Altho Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel was a prolific issuer of silver coins up to enormous ten thaler pieces, her gold issues are scanty and expensive.
Recorded mintage: unknown but few.
Specification: 3.5 g, 0.986 fine gold, .110 troy oz AGW; this specimen is 3.41 g.
