This specimen was lot 30337 in Heritage sale 3097 (New York, January 2022), where it sold for $12,600. The catalog description[1] noted,

"Netherlands: Utrecht. Provincial Ducaton (Silver Rider) 1756 MS65+ NGC. A conditionally and visually superior example of the date, and when compared to the wider series with this associated Davenport number, we can only locate five specimens a half-point finer across hundreds of certified pieces. An atypically firm strike yields impressive depth to the engraved features, further elevated by the icy pondlike resplendence imbued upon the fields beneath, projecting the rider towards the viewer. Coins from this series and of this advanced caliber have historically taken off and deserve placement in an advanced collector's cabinet."

This ducaton was struck with a cabled edge 1739-94 and with a flowered edge (KM 92.2) 1746-49, 1756-79. This date, which is common, is noted with a 1756/53 overdate.

Recorded mintage: 174,072 for 1754-57.

Specification: 32.78 g, 0.941 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM 92.1, Dav-1832, Delm-1031, CNM-2.43.101.
