The first specimen was lot 2544 in Goldberg sale 81 (Los Angeles, September 2014), where it sold for $211.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Spain. 8 Maravedis, 1619 (Segovia). Philip III. Crowned shield of Castile. Reverse: Crowned shield of Leon. NGC graded AU-58 Brown." This Spanish type was milled at the Segovia mint 1601-20. It has a low catalog value. The SCWC also lists hammered eight maravedis from the same mint (KM 15.5). Thirty four maravedis made a real.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: copper.
