This specimen was lot 70741 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $552. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Prussia. 20 Mark, 1901-A. Berlin Mint. Wilhelm II. NGC MS-64. Quite dazzling and brilliant, this near-Gem radiates with original appeal on each side." This type, issued 1890-1913, is common and is a product of the Berlin mint (mintmark "A").

Recorded mintage: 5,188,340.

Specification: 7.96 g, 0.900 fine gold, .230 troy oz AGW.
