Sincona sale 85, lot 1171

This specimen was lot 1171 in Sincona sale 85 (Zurich, October 2023), where it sold for 3,200 CHF (about US$4,309 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"IRAN, Muhammad Ali Shah, 1324-1327 AH (1907-1909). 2000 Dinars 1326 AH (1908/1909 AD), Tehran Mint. Bust type. Very rare. NGC XF Details. Small scratches and edge nick. From the Kian collection, auction SINCONA 49, October 2018, lot 194. From the Mesrob Abgarians Collection, Glendale, 1988."

This rare commemorative accompanied a 2000 dinars with a lion obverse (KM 1012). Gold 2000 dinars also exist for AH 1326 (KM 1024).

Specification: 9.21 g, 0.900 fine silver, 28 mm diameter.
