This specimen was lot 50564 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $347. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1891-GoRS. PCGS MS-64 Secure Holder." The Guanajuato mint issued this type 1825-97 and most dates are readily available. The Guanajuato mint issued no eight reales in 1869, 1871 or 1872. Several overdates are noted for the year, including 1886/5, 1886/76 and 1886/75.

Recorded mintage: 3,197,000.
