This specimen was lot 4443 in Goldberg sale 84 (Los Angeles, January 2015), where it sold for $188. The catalog description[1] noted, "Italian States: Tuscany. Florino, 1856. Leopold II. Deeply toned. NGC graded AU-58." This type is listed for 1843-48 and 1856-58. These obscure little Italian states coins don't catalog for much but are very difficult to find. This specimen brought less than the catalog value. The fiorino, originally a gold coin equal to a ducat, was in the nineteenth century one quarter of a francescone, the Tuscan equivalent of a piastra.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 6.87 g, .916 fine silver.
