Tuscany 1856 paolo
This specimen was lot 1273 in Sincona sale 76 (Zürich, May 2022), where it sold for 200 CHF (about US$243 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ITALY | Toskana. Leopoldo II. di Lorena, 1824-1859. Paolo 1856, Firenze. FDC. NGC MS64. Herrliche Patina. (Italy, grand duchy of Tuscany, Leopold II of Lorraine, 1824-59, paolo of 1856, Florence mint. Uncirculated, Most attractively toned.)"
This scarce type was struck 1842-46 and 1856-58. The paolo was one tenth of a francescone. This bust was also used on a half paolo (KM C68a), fiorino (KM C72a) and francescone (KM C75b).
