This specimen was lot 1452 in Sincona sale 76 (Zurich, May 2022), where it sold for 2,600 CHF (about US$3,156 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA. Karl VI. 1711-1740. 1/2 Taler 1739, Breslau. Selten. Vorzüglich-FDC. NGC MS62. Prachtvolle Erhaltung. (Austria, Charles VI, 1711-40, half thaler of 1739, Breslau mint. Rare, Extremely fine-uncirculated, Magnificent condition.)"
This type was struck for Charles VI at Breslau 1729-31, 1736 and 1739. After his death in 1740, Frederick of Prussia invnaded and occupied Silesia, setting off the War of the Austrian Succession. Despite determined Austrian attacks, the Hapsburgs were never able to recover it.
