This specimen was lot 22703 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxony. 2/3 Taler, 1682-CF. Johann Georg III (1680-91). NGC MS-63. Sharp strike with lovely iridescent cabinet tone displaying a rainbow of colors. Clearly an example which sat for a prolonged period of time undisturbed." This denomination was first struck in Saxony in 1675. This type was struck 1680-91 and is fairly expensive tho much more affordable than contemporary thalers such as Dav-7627.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: silver.
