Künker sale 335, lot 4351

This specimen was lot 4351 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €1,700 (about US$2,225 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SACHSEN, SACHSEN-EISENBERG, HERZOGTUM. Christian, 1680-1707. 2/3 Taler 1682, Gotha. RR Sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, duchy of Saxe-Eisenberg, Christian, 1680-1707, two-thirds thaler of 1682, Gotha mint. Rare, very fine to extremely fine.)"

This gulden accompanied a thaler (Dav-7422). The line lapsed on the death of the duke, after one generation. After much wrangling, his state passed to Saxe-Hildburghausen.
