This specimen was lot 72724 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "RUSSIA. 15 Kopeks, 1764-MMA. Moscow Mint. Catherine II. NGC MS-63+. Finest certified of the date at either NGC or PCGS. An attractive blast white high grade first year of issue." This type, issued 1764-66 from Moscow and 1778-94 from St. Petersburg, introduced the denomination. Catherine the Great began life as an obscure German princess but became czarina after the murder of her husband.
