This specimen was lot 2351 in Sincona sale 23 (Zürich, May 2015), where it sold for 180 CHF (about US$226 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Oldenburg, Grossherzogtum, Nicolaus Friedrich Peter, 1853-1900 2 Mark 1891. Berlin Sehr schön. (grand duchy of Oldenburg, Nicholas Frederick Peter, 1853-1900, two mark of 1891, Berlin mint. Very fine.)"
This is the only two mark issued for this ruler and is fairly scarce despite the substantial mintage. Oldenburg lies on the North Sea between Hannover and the Netherlands.
Recorded mintage: 100,000 plus a few proofs.
Specification: 11.11 g, 0.900 fine silver, 28 mm diameter, this specimen 11.08 g.
