Sincona sale 39, lot 3906

This specimen was lot 3906 in Sincona sale 39 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 50 CHF (about US$60 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Leopold I. 1657-1705 6 Kreuzer 1668. Kremnitz. Gutes vorzüglich. (kingdom of Hungary, Leopold I, 1657-1705, six kreuzer of 1668, Kremnitz mint. Good extremely fine.)"

This type is listed for 1661, 1667-74 and 1681-82 and is common. The thaler was in the mid-seventeenth century equal to ninety kreuzer, making this denomination one-fifteenth thaler. Six kreuzers were also struck at St. Veit and Graz.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.1 g, 0.438 fine silver, 26.2 mm diameter, this specimen 3.54 g.
