Stack's Bowers May 2023 Collector's Choice sale, lot 72489
SB523-72489r.jpg

This specimen was lot 72489 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2023), where it sold for $336. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 10 Pounds (5 Ounces), 2019. Llantrisant Mint. Elizabeth II. PCGS PROOF-69 Deep Cameo. On the cusp of perfection, this stunning example is exceeded in the PCGS census by just one specimen." This NCLT is one from the Britannia series of silver and gold bullion coins which started in 1987. The Britannia series has been minted steadily altho never attaining the popularity of the Mexican Libertad, the American silver eagle or the Canadian Maple Leaf. We were forced to use the Spink catalog number in the title as this is unlisted in the SCWC. Now that the SCWC is out of print, it seems that it will remain unlisted permanently.

Recorded mintage: 302.

Specification: 155.5 g, 0.999 fine silver, 65 mm diameter, 5 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: S-BSH7, KM 1753.
