This specimen was lot 994 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 3,400 CHF (about US$4,493 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DÄNEMARK, Frederik VII. 1848-1863. 2 Frederik d'or 1853, Altona. Münzmeister Johann Friedrich Freund. Stempelschneider Friedrich Christoph Krohn. Selten. Vorzüglich. (kingdom of Denmark, Frederick VII, 1848-63, gold double frederick of 1853, Altona mint. Rare, Extremely fine.)"

This coin is from a series begun in 1828 during the reign of Frederick VI. This type was struck 1851-55. In 1874, Danish coinage underwent a decimal reform and Denmark joined the Scandinavian Monetary Union. The christians d'or was superseded by the 20 kroner.
