This specimen was lot 3727 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $540.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxe-Old-Weimar. Taler, 1595. Friedrich Wilhelm I with Johann III (1573-1602). NGC AU-55. Dark iridescent toning. Nice strike with good details. From the Rockaway Collection." This type was struck 1594-97 along with a double thaler (Dav-9776).
