The first specimen was lot 851 in Sedwick Auction 36 (Winter Park, FL, November 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "CHILE, Santiago, 1 peso, 1896/5, NGC XF 40 (Colección Val y Mexía Label), finest and only example in NGC census. Lightly toned over muted luster, some high-point wear but arguably AU, trace of overdate that is unlisted and probably rare. Pedigreed to the Val y Mexia Collection."
