This specimen was lot 4441 in Goldberg sale 104 (Los Angeles, June 2018), where it sold for $630. The catalog description[1] noted, "Sweden. 2 Ore, 1626. Copper. Square planchet. Gustaf II Adolphus, 1611-1632. Crown above G A R, S below. Reverse: Sheaf, value and date. Fine." In the late seventeenth century, the Swedish mints oscillated between striking this denomination in copper (shown here) and billon (KM 241). This type was struck at 1625-27 at Säter and Nyköping and is very scarce. Eight öre made a mark.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 58.6 g, copper, this specimen 54.5 grams.
Catalog reference: KM-107.
