Goldberg sale 93, lot 2135
China G93-2135r.jpg

This specimen was lot 2135 in Goldberg sale 93 (Los Angeles, September 2016), where it sold for $1,057.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "China. Panda 10 Yuan, 1985 Choice Brilliant Proof. Panda with cub on back. In sealed plastic, with certificate. Choice Brilliant Proof." The first silver panda was issued in 1983 and quickly became an annual release. The 1987 issue was the first that weighed a full troy ounce. At the beginning, there was little market in China for these and they were not popular in the United States, so the mintages were low.

Recorded mintage: 10,000, proof only.

Specification: 27 g, 0.900 fine silver, .776 troy oz ASW.

Catalog reference: KM-114 (formerly KM Y95).
