This token is not considered a Conder token, being issued after Conder wrote his book, but is often included with them as part of the vast array of British private tokens issued before the Royal mint was reformed in 1816. Wikipedia comments, "Shaftesbury is a town and civil parish in Dorset, England. It is west of Salisbury and north-northeast of Dorchester, near the border with Wiltshire. It is the only significant hilltop settlement in Dorset."
