Stack's Bowers February 2024 Collector's Choice sale, lot 74854
SB224-74854r.jpg

This specimen was lot 74854 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2024), where it sold for $145. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Trade Tokens. Middlesex. Thomas Wood Auctioneer Copper 1/2 Penny Token, 1811. PCGS MS-62 Brown. Obverse: Facade of the old stock exchange; Reverse: legend in 14 lines. A beautiful example of this token issue. Toned to a matte brown but with some flashy red highlights that amplify its charm." This is not, strictly speaking, a Conder token, being issued after the initial period of their popularity, but we have filed it there nevertheless.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: copper.

Catalog reference: Withers-845; Davis-65.
