This specimen was lot 40165 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. Sovereign, 1893. PCGS PROOF-64+ Deep Cameo. Secure Holder. Tied for second finest Deep Cameo graded by PCGS." This type was struck 1893-1901 in considerable numbers. This "old bust" is the most familiar and most common of Victoria's sovereigns.

Recorded mintage: 6,898,000.

Specification: 7.98 g, 0.917 fine gold.
