This specimen was lot 34056 in Heritage sale 3076 (Long Beach, CA, September 2019), where it sold for $252. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain: Victoria 3 Pence 1893 MS62 PCGS. Jubilee head. A gleaming white offering." By Victoria's reign, the silver penny, tuppence and groat were obsolete as circulating coins and were issued only for the Maundy sets. The silver threepence continued in circulation until after World War Two. Open 3 + closed 3 varieties exist for 1893.
Recorded mintage: 3,076,000, including the old head, which is much more common.
