Lightly cleaned." This bust was used on the half guinea 1740 and 1745-46. Half guineas of 1745 exist with "LIMA" below the bust ([[Great Britain 1745 1/2 guinea Fr-348|Fr-348]]); those bring double the price of the plain type shown here. Guineas were superseded by sovereigns during the reform of 1817.

Sincona sale 79, lot 1265

This specimen was lot 1265 in Sincona sale 79 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 1,000 CHF (about US$1,199 including buyer's fees).
