Heritage sale 3076, lot 34393
Utrecht H3076-34393r.jpg

This specimen was lot 34393 in Heritage sale 3076 (Long Beach, CA, September 2019), where it sold for $720. The catalog description[1] noted, "Netherlands Utrecht. Provincial 10 Stuivers 1770 MS64 PCGS. A scarcer date that saw only 740 examples produced. Admirably struck and attractive all-around, though it is certainly the reverse of this example that "steals the show" with an array of stunningly vibrant and deep tone, spanning from intense greens and blues to fiery crimson and coppery gold." This type, equal to half a gulden, was struck 1769-70, 1781-82, 1796 and most dates are common. A few were also struck in gold. Another type (KM 110, w/o denomination) was struck 1750-94, including 1770.

Recorded mintage: 740 (probably a misprint for 740,000).

Specification: 5.30 g, 0.920 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM 118.
