SB223-74166r.jpg

This specimen was lot 74166 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2023), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Utrecht. 10 Stuivers, 1769. Utrecht Mint. NGC AU-55. A more difficult date in the series, this pleasingly toned and very lightly circulated specimen yields an impressive look that features a slightly deeper nature nearer the peripheries." This type, equal to half a gulden, was struck 1769-70, 1781-82, 1796 and most dates are common. A few were also struck in gold. Another type (KM 110, w/o denomination) was struck 1750-94 but not 1769.

Recorded mintage: 560 (probably a misprint for 560,000).

Specification: 5.30 g, 0.920 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM-118; Delm-1203.
