Steve Album sale 38, lot 3444

This specimen was lot 3444 in Stephen Album sale 38 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2020), where it sold for $41.65. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY: Allied Occupation, zinc 10 pfennig, 1948-F, PCGS graded MS63." Altho listed by the SCWC under the Third Reich, this type of 1945-48 was issued by the Allied military authorities from Berlin, Stuttgart (shown here), Muldenhutten and Karlsruhe using altered dies. The one, five and ten pfennig had been converted to zinc in 1940 and that composition was continued. The introduction of the deutschemark in the western zone in 1949 terminated the issue. It is common in low grade but very scarce in choice condition.

Recorded mintage: 19,979,000.

Specification: zinc.

Catalog reference: KM-A104, J-375.
