Steve Album sale 30, lot 980
Straits Setts SA30-980r.jpg

This specimen was lot 980 in Stephen Album sale 30 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2018), where it sold for $223.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "STRAITS SETTLEMENTS: Victoria, 1837-1901, ¼ cent, 1899, NGC graded MS62 RB." The type was struck in 1889-99 after the Straits Settlements were made a separate crown colony and is scarce in nice condition despite the large mintage. The denomination was introduced in 1874. It was converted to bronze for the 1884 issue (KM 7a) and given a reeded edge for the 1889 issue (KM 14).

Recorded mintage: 2,400,000.

Specification: bronze, 18 mm diameter, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM-14.
