Stack's Bowers October 2021 Collector's Choice sale, lot 70793
SB1021-70793r.jpg

This specimen was lot 70793 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, October 2021), where it sold for $180. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Saxony. 3 Mark, 1913-E. Muldenhutten Mint. Friedrich August III. PCGS MS-64. Richly toned near-Gem example with an abundance underlying luster and an overall handsome charm." This is the regular issue, struck 1908-13, and is common. A commemorative (KM 1275) struck for the centennial of the battle of Leipzig is even more common.

Recorded mintage: 306,500 + 999,999 of KM 1275.

Specification: 16.66 g, 0.900 fine silver, .482 troy oz ASW, 33 mm diameter, lettered edge.

Catalog reference: KM-1267; J-135; Dav-492.
