This specimen was lot 4261 in Sincona sale 43 (Zürich, October 2017), where it sold for 350 CHF (about US$418,

"Stadt und Kanton Genf, 6 Sols 1776. FDC. Prachtvolle Erhaltung. (city and canton of Geneva, six sols of 1776. Uncirculated, Magnificent condition.)"

This type was struck 1765, 1776 and 1791 and is fairly common. Nearly all the other issues of Geneva for the eighteenth century are rare. This type was struck in both billon or silver; from the toning visible in the photo, this specimen appears to be billon.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 2.6 g, billon or silver, 25 mm diameter, this specimen 2.77 g.
