The first specimen was lot 6417 in Künker sale 336 (Osnabruck, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €950 (about US$1,243 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, <blockquote>"''RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Karl VI. 1711-1740. Dukat 1740, NB, Nagybánya. GOLD. R Kl. Probierspur im Rand, sehr schön.'' Mount mark on edge, very fine.)"</blockquote> The second specimen was lot 1584 in Sincona sale 63 (Zurich, June 2020), where it sold for 1,800 CHF (about US$2,256 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, <blockquote>"''HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Karl VI. 1711-1740. Dukat 1740 NB, Nagybanya. Selten. Fast vorzüglich. Leichte Prägeschwäche.'' Künker sale 336, lot 6417
Sincona sale 63, lot 1584

The first specimen was lot 6417 in Künker sale 336 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €950 (about US$1,243 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Karl VI. 1711-1740. Dukat 1740, NB, Nagybánya. GOLD. R Kl. Probierspur im Rand, sehr schön. (Holy Roman Empire, Charles VI, 1711-40, ducat of 1740, Nagybánya mint. Mount mark on edge, very fine.)"

The second specimen was lot 1584 in Sincona sale 63 (Zürich, June 2020), where it sold for 1,800 CHF (about US$2,256 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HOLY ROMAN EMPIRE - AUSTRIA, Karl VI. 1711-1740. Dukat 1740 NB, Nagybanya. Selten. Fast vorzüglich. Leichte Prägeschwäche. (Holy Roman Empire, Charles VI, 1711-40, ducat of 1740, Nagybánya mint. Rare, About extremely fine, Slightly weakly struck.)"

This type was struck for Transylvania 1734-40 and is fairly expensive. Friedberg lists this under Hungary tho it is very different from the usual Hungarian design such as Fr-171.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.49 g, 0.986 fine gold, the first specimen 3.41 g, the second specimen 3.44 g.

Catalog reference: KM 587, Huszar 1593. Fr-175; Herinek 192.
