This specimen was lot 1465 in Sedwick Treasure Auction 21 (Winter Park, FL, May 2017), where it sold for $305.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Guatemala, bust 4 reales, Charles IV, 1792M, ex-Richard Stuart. Beautifully rainbow-toned AXF with underlying luster. Pedigreed to the Richard Stuart collection." This type is listed for 1790-1808 and is the most common colonial four reales from Guatemala. Unlike contemporary Mexican issues, Guatemala four reales are more available than the eight reales.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 13.53 g, 0.896 fine silver, .399 troy oz ASW, this specimen 13.36 grams.
