This specimen was lot 11299 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice Online Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2025), where it sold for €65 (about US$68). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "[[Sweden|SWEDEN]]. 1/24 Taler (Doppeltschilling), 1656. Pommern-Stettin. Karl X Gustav. NGC VF 30. From the L. E. Bruun Collection." This type was struck 1656-60. We assume the monogram "DS" on the reverse means "Doppel Schilling". On the lapse of the native dynasty in 1637, the duchy of Pomerania was contested between Sweden and Brandenburg until they agreed to partition it by the Peace of Westphalia in 1648. As Sweden gradually weakened, Brandenburg (later Prussia) gradually nibbled away at the Swedish portion until the remainder was seized in 1815.
