Goldberg sale 81, lot 1676

This specimen was lot 1676 in Goldberg sale 81 (Los Angeles, September 2014), where it sold for $329. The catalog description[1] noted, "Great Britain. Sovereign, 2000. Elizabeth II. PCGS graded MS-68 Millennium 1st Strike." This type starting 1998 features the fourth bust to be used on the sovereigns of Elizabeth II. These were sold to investors and collectors and not issued for circulation.

Recorded mintage: 129,069 plus 10,000 proofs.

Specification: 7.98 g, 0.917 fine gold.
