This specimen was lot 71538 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $1,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 2 Pounds, 2007. Llantrisant Mint. NGC PROOF-70 Ultra Cameo. A beautiful example that boasts extreme cameo contrast and the highest obtainable third party certification." This type was struck 1998-2008, as a revival of the old two pounds struck in Victorian and Edwardian times. It was accompanied by a gold sovereign and five pounds, also not intended to circulate.
