Sincona sale 80, lot 5332

This specimen was lot 5332 in Sincona sale 80 (Zürich, October 2022), where it sold for 325 CHF (about US$ including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND | Zurich | Stadt und Kanton, Vierteldukat 1745, Zürich. Rare. Very fine-extremely fine." This scarce type was struck 1718-67 along with double (Fr-485a), half (Fr-487a) and single ducats (Fr-486a). In 1798, the canton of Zürich was forcibly incorporated into the Helvetic Republic.

Specification: 0.875 g, 0.986 fine gold, this specimen 0.85 g.
